Wonju Hanji Theme Park is a cultural space where displays, exhibitions, lectures, and experiential classes about Hanji(traditional Korean paper made of mulberry trees) are offered and where citizens are able to appreciate culture and arts related to Hanji.

Hanji was essential in everyday life of Koreans before the 20th century because Hanji is strong but soft and its absorbtion capacity of water and sweat was good. Wonju Hanji Theme Park serves as a cultural hub for visitors and citizens to feel the breath of the history that Hanji of Wonju carries.

Wonju Hanji Theme Park is also a place that tells and shows you everything about what Hanji is, including when Hanji originated and for how long Hanji has affected the life of Koreans. Taking a tour of exhibitions and facilities, taking lectures, and taking experiential classes are also some form of learning about what Hanji is about.

Taking a tour of Hanji History Room on the first floor will allow visitors to learn when paper was invented, how it proliferated, when Hanji came into being, how Hanji spread, and how Hanji is made. Small dolls made of paper mulberry make the simulation of those scenes in Hanji History Room possible.

Hanji History Room also displays Hanji-related articles that were used by Koreans in everyday life before the 20th century. It is where you can have a brief but full look at the history of Hanji.

Visitors walk around over to a multimedia room that shows a 15 minute video about the history of Hanji itself and how to make it. Then, visitors are taken to where award pieces of Hanji are displayed in the Hanji History Room.

Wonju Hanji Theme Park of Wonju offers something special to visitors. Visitors are able to have a hands-on experience on how to make Hanji from mulberry trees and are offered programmes about how to make a variety of craft items of Hanji. These are offered in Hanji Experience Room of the first floor.

An exhibition room is established on the 2nd floor and lots of special displays are hosted all year around. We hold regular exhibitions of works and pieces of Hanji crafted by artists from home and abroad. Workshops, meetings, and educational sessions about Hanji are held in the meeting room of the second floor.
